Put a live route map on your website

Add an interactive VeloPlanner map to any article or page — official routes, your own routes, or whole collections. Free, and no account needed for official routes.

Any route, your way

Official routes

EuroVelo and 100+ official routes, complete with stages, stats, and elevation profiles.

Your own routes

Any route you draw in the planner — perfect for trip reports and club rides.

Collections

Group several routes into one widget with a browsable list.

Why widgets

Better than a screenshot

A static image goes stale the day you publish it. A widget stays interactive and up to date.

Readers stay longer

Visitors can pan, zoom, and check the elevation profile without leaving your page. Engaged readers spend more time on your site — a signal search engines notice.

Always up to date

The widget shows the live route from VeloPlanner, with stats, stages, and an optional elevation profile.

Free, with no strings attached

No API keys, no registration for official routes, no cost. Just a small link back to VeloPlanner in the widget.

Three steps to your first widget

1

Official routes: click "Embed"

Open any official route on VeloPlanner and hit the Embed button, right next to the GPX download.

2

Your routes: "Share", then "Embed"

On a route you created, open Share and choose Embed. Works the same for collections.

3

Copy and paste

Copy the snippet and paste it into your site — WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, or any editor that accepts HTML. You see a live preview before you copy.

Want a different look? Extra basemaps like terrain are available for your routes and collections. Contact us to enable them.

See it in action

This is a real widget — move the map around, check the elevation profile.

Frequently asked questions

Is embedding really free?

Yes. There are no fees, no API keys, and nothing to install. If pages with your widgets serve more than 2,000 pageviews a day, just get in touch with us first.

Do I need a VeloPlanner account?

Not for official routes — anyone can embed them. To embed your own route you need a free account to create it, then use Share and Embed.

Does it work with WordPress, Squarespace, or Wix?

Yes. The widget works anywhere you can paste an HTML snippet, for example in a Custom HTML block.

Can I embed a private route?

Yes. Private routes get a special embed code with an access key, so the route stays private everywhere else.

What languages does the widget support?

Seven: English, Polish, German, Spanish, French, Czech, and Dutch. Pick the one that matches your audience when you copy the code.

Can I change the map style?

The standard VeloPlanner basemap is included for everyone. Extra basemaps like terrain are available for your own routes and collections — contact us and we will enable them for you.

Are there any attribution requirements?

The widget includes a small visible link back to veloplanner.com. It is added to the embed code automatically — just leave it in place.

Does the widget work on mobile?

Yes. It stretches to the full width of its container and the map is touch-friendly. You can adjust the height in the embed code.
