The cycle route between Rudbøl on the German border and Skagen on the northern tip of Jutland is 560 kilometers long. The nature is fantastic with the Wadden Sea as one of the highlights: It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Another great sight is ‘Denmark's largest wilderness’, the dune landscape in Thy National Park. You will also find many cultural gems along the way, including Ribe, the oldest city of the country.
The fishing harbor in Hanstholm at one end and Rådhuspladsen in the middle of Copenhagen at the second. The Diagonal Route is 380 kilometers across Denmark, and the experiences are as widely different: The distinctive nature of Northwest Jutland with National Park Thy, farmland and forest areas, a stretch along the country's longest stream, Gudenåen, and lots of city life and cultural history, if you choose to.
The Pilgrims Route (Hærvejen) is a 450 kilometres long historic main route up through Jutland. Large forests alternate with open country, moors are replaced by stretches of coast, and from north to south you have Denmark's history up close. Burial mounds from ancient times, ring castles from the Viking Age, the medieval town of Viborg and the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Jelling.
From the North Sea to Øresund or vice versa: The route through the middle of Denmark is 330 kilometers with very varied experiences. From metropolis to peaceful lake life, from urban natural areas to UNESCO world heritage sites, from mountains to lignite lakes, from dunes to works of art in roundabouts.
Are you ready for a long and varied route? It brings together most of the experiences that make Denmark great for a bike tour. The east coast of Jutland is scenic fjords, peaceful bays and open water, but without the North Sea's harsh winds, and some of the stages are delightfully hilly. You can supply with cultural events in the large market towns along the east coast.
From the the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea, where the tide moves 1 billion cubic meters of water twice a day, to the metropolis Copenhagen– the contrast could not be bigger. The route also takes you up high: Between Funen and Jutland you cycle 33 meters above sea level on the 1.2 kilometer old bridge over Lillebælt.
The route has ferry docks at both ends: to the north in Sjællands Odde and to the south in Rødby with a connection to Germany. The northern part of the route leads through varied nature with many fine views. The Lammefjord is asurrounded by dama, and the former fjord bed is fertile agricultural land – and a nice flat area to bike on. A highlight is the ride over the Guldborgsund Bridge.
The route is a cycle loop of more than 800 kilometers across the southern part of the country. An odyssey through maritime Denmark with eight bridges and five ferries – or more, because there are plenty of 'extra' small islands along the way. The East Coast Route is great if you like the sea, beaches and water sports, but culturally interested cyclists will like it as well. One example: a town in Southern Jutland is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The cycle tour along the Bornholm coast is the shortest of the national routes, but we recommend that you spend a few days covering the 105 kilometers. There is much to experience on the rock island, which is to be the world's first energy island – a hub for intelligent green energy. You can look forward to culinary experiences, handicrafts, museums, ruins, lovely beaches and fantastic nature.
If you bike all the way around the Limfjord, you get more than 600 kilometers of some of Denmark's most beautiful nature. It is the country's largest fjord area with a unique birdlife, small islands and lovely beaches with plenty of opportunities for water sports. And you won't be disappointed either if you are interested in art, culture, history or local food like oysters and mussels.
